In June 2014 the Writing Brecht project participated in a symposium dedicated to ‘Re-Thinking Brecht’, held at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
Along with papers from members of the project, the symposium included the world premiere of the new translation of Brecht’s Messingkauf: ‘Buying Brass’, translated by Steve Giles. A series of short films of the day’s events, as well as the whole Buying Brass performance, are available below:
Steve Giles: ‘Brecht into English: Reception, re/editing, re/translating’
Romy Fursland: 'Translating Brecht'
David Barnett: 'There is no “Brechtian Style” of acting’
Tom Kuhn: 'Editing Brecht's non-literary writings'
